Whitney Houston awarded International Award of Excellence at American Music Awards 2009
The International Award of Excellence is awarded to artists who have found success around the globe and has been awarded rarely. Previous winners have been Michael Jackson, Rod Steward, Led Zepplin, The Bee Gees, Aerosmith, Madonna and Beyonce.
Whitney Houston performed I Didn’t Know My Own Strength after accepting the award, the first time in a decade that she’s performed at the American Music Awards.
In August 2009, Houston released her 7th studio album, I Look To You, which debuted at No. 1 in the United States, Canada, Italy, Holland and Switzerland.
