The Karaoke World Championship USA is looking for karaoke singers, karaoke venues and karaoke hosts (karaoke disc jockeys) for the 2009 competition. There’s no better time than now to find a local participating venue, warm up your vocal cords and give it your best shot! Local venue competitions are in progress and will continue until June 21st. State, Regional and National competitions follow in June, July and August. The World Championships will be held in Finland in September.

Held in 2003 in Finland, the first Karaoke World Championships (”KWC”) had contestants from 7 countries, with approximately 10,000 visitors attending the event over four days. 14 countries sent karaoke singers to KWC 2004 increasing to 21 countries the following year. In 2006 the KWC set sail and held the championship on a cruise ship!

If’ you’re serious about karaoke, this is the karaoke competition for you. If you’re looking for motivation, here’s an oficial video compilation of last year’s Karaoke World Championships that will make you want to get up and sing on that stage!

But in order to get there from wherever you are now, you’ll need to start in your country. Here are a few of the countries participating that have websites. This is not a complete list - we’ll update it as we find more links to other countries that are participating this year. Hi Romeo, currently we don’t know of a Canadian venue that is hosting a KWC trial - if we find one we will post it here.

Hi Isabella, the rules posted on the KWC US site do say you have to be 18 years of age or older. You might want to try America’s Got Talent, there are young teens who have appeared on that show. Good luck and keep singing!
