Macklemore and Ryan Lewis prove that music unites us all

Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, Mary Lambert, Madonna, and Queen Latifah made history at the GRAMMYs on Sunday when they married 34 gay and straight couples during their performance.

It was a beautiful moment in music history when, after closing their beautiful rendition of  “Same Love”, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis invited Queen Latifah to the stage to officiate the marriage of 34 couples. The ceremony included both gay and straight couples (Ryan Lewis’ sister and brother-in-law being one of them). Immediately after the ceremony concluded, Madonna majestically took the stage and performed a slowed down rendition of “Open Your Heart”. Stunning.

There was not a dry eye in the house. This was a huge step in the fight for marriage equality and was a truly unifying event.

Think you can give a more emotional tribute? Try singing “Same Love” in the style of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis here and record it! You could be chosen as the recording of the week!
