Happy 40th Birthday Sesame Street!

Educational television would never be the same after the first broadcast of Sesame Street on November 10th, 1969 (sponsored by the letters W, S, & E  and the numbers 2 & 3).  40 years later, Sesame Street is still going strong and is reinventing itself with a new opening and format on today’s show.

Sesame Street has always managed to stay current with the times by inviting popular artists and celebrities to appear on the show.  This year will be no different.

“The new season will be star-studded,” Carol-Lynn Parente says. “We have Cameron Diaz in our premiere episode, and Adam Sandler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kobe Bryant, Eva Longoria, Christina Applegate, Ricky Gervais, Greg Kinnear, and more — we have over 30 celebrities this season. And we also have First Lady Michelle Obama!” (source).

Did you see the video of Katy Perry singing with Elmo? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXiFsB4SYlc&feature=player_embedded it’s fun but a bit weird in an uncomfortable way…

Hi Jenny – thanks for posting that link to the Katy Perry Sesame Street video – we agree – it is a bit odd – but still fun!
