Happy Birthday Leonard Cohen!

Seventy-five years ago, September 21, 1934, Leonard Cohen was born in Westmount, Quebec, Canada.  While a student at McGill University, he began to publish poetry and continued to write poetry and fiction after graduating.

In the late 60s Cohen moved to the States and began to tour as a singer songwriter.  In addition to writing hit songs, winning music awards and being inducted into multiple Halls of Fame, he is a Companion of the Order of Canada.  Perhaps the best accolade of all is the number of covers and tributes that have been recorded of his work.  So many people have covered his hit song Halleluhaj, that Cohen recently asked that people not record any more versions of it.  His music career is now well into its 5th decade and despite an incident at his concert in Bilboa, Spain on September 17th where he left the stage because of food poisening,  he continues to tour.  Check his tour schedule here.
